0301 The Alistair Watkins Show – A New Presiminister

That’s right, the third season is here.  There’s a new intro/outro, a new member, and a new format.  Awesomeness ensues.

In this episode, Turkebeneministan gets a new presiminister, Bret gets a new job (what’s new, eh?), and the new guy gives us an update on killer cookies.

The Horrors of Spider Island

———————————————————–

It’s pretty awesome outside tonight.  I also need a digital SLR camera.  Or I could permanently steal Robby’s.

Arson

The brave men of the fire department saved 10 children yesterday.  All 11 of them gave their lives for the sake of the children, an honorable, and, at the time, a worthwhile gesture.

This morning, three orphanages burned to the ground….

——————————————————

Yeah, I have a sick sense of humor.  Get over it.  You laughed, too.

Also, have you been to the bookkeeper committee of Mississippi lately?  They discussed triple-doubles at their last meeting.

CNN

In case you haven’t heard (or have simply become deaf to my narcissistic comments), I was on CNN!  I wasn’t credited, but there was a segment of viral videos, and the latest Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir piece made it on.  It includes the piece of the video that features me.

Actually, except for the viral videos segment, I hate CNN.  It is my least favorite news channel.

Anyway, here’s the link (at about 3 minutes is when the choir clip begins):  http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2010/04/03/nr.levs.viral.video.04.03.cnn?hpt=T2

If we evah a-needed ta blog before, we shoah do need to now….

That’s a song reference, by the way.  Maybe you’ll get it, or maybe you’ll just stop reading now and go do something productive.  Anyway….

Remember how much I love Eric Whitacre’s music?  Well, we did a second Youtube choir thing with his music.  This time he conducted it himself.  And I again joined the ranks of the bass 2s.  Here’s the most amazing video.  And you’ll see me right in the middle above Whitacre, then zoomed all the way in at about 1:30.  I don’t know why, but it seems besides Whitacre and the soloist, I’m the only one on whom the producer zoomed in (on in which the producer zoomed? stupid English).

You should watch it in 1080p and rate it on Youtube here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7o7BrlbaDs.  It is amazing.  Also, you should join next time.  I’ll keep ya posted.

A Great Day in SAUville

I had a good day.  At choir today (the big one) we were getting out a piece of music, “On Jordan’s Stormy Banks” (the minor key version, not the lame Adventist hymnal version) to sing.  Dr. Kibble says, “Michael, you have the tenor II part, right?  And Jonathan, you have tenor I….  And I hear that Curtis has volunteered for the bass solo.”

Yep.  That’s exactly how it happened.  Robby told me later that he turned to Stephen next to him and whispered, “he hasn’t”.  That’s the truth.  Dr. Kibble just does things like that.  She volunteered me for the bass solo.  So, I’m a soloist.  :)

Also, today was the floor hockey championship game.  We won.  That’s right, two years in a row!  This year we played Norge Ringerike (it means Ringerike, Norway, a municipality) for the “gold” (actually just championship t-shirts, but it’s still awesome).  It was a grand game, and we beat them 4-2.  They got angry after the refs decided to call one of their goals not a goal.  They were completely right in my absolutely unbiased opinion.  One of their guys was off sides, first of all.  They didn’t see that.  What they did see was that the guy kicked it in.  He argued it wasn’t a kick, but he moved his legs forward and the puck rolled off his leg and in.  It was definitely a kick.  And we won with two points more than they did anyway.

So, today was grand.  Total win.

Copacetic

Copacetic is a good word.

I was watching “The Mentalist” last night while eating my CK enchiladas, which I decided are not too bad, when Robby came in the room.  Not twenty seconds later, somebody on the show said the word “copacetic”.  Robby loved it.

Today, Robby figured out where he first heard the word.  It was in the movie “Catch Me if You Can”, a very good movie.  He couldn’t remember the name of the character, though… “he’s… the… DaVinci’s father?….”

I, of course, immediately was thinking of Tom Hanks’ father, because Tom Hanks played the cop in the movie “Catch Me if You Can” and the main character in “The DaVinci Code”, a very stupid and worthless movie.  However, that whole line of thought made no sense because Hanks did not have a father in CMiYC.  So, anyway, I asked Robby about it.  Turns out that he meant Leonardo DiCaprio (Frank Abignale, Jr.).  And his father was played by Christopher Walken of “more cowbell” fame.

The main point of this is to remind you how awesome the word “copacetic” is.  A subpoint is that it is awesome that DaVinci means two things in reference to CMiYC.  Another subpoint is that Robby is hilarious.
