AVATARS!!!

I can’t tell you how excited I am to present to you a new plugin! It allows everybody to have a personal avatar. Sorry, Katy, you will have to put your own avatar up again, but you can change it on your own. I think it’s awesome.

Also, you may notice the cool new login thing on the top right.  It’s cool, I know.  I love the plugin!

To change your avatar, you must first log in.  Use the top right box–it’s the easiest way.  Then click on “Dashboard” in the same top right box.  Then on the new page, click on “Profile” on the top right corner.  Then go to the “Your Avatar” tab near the top left corner.  Follow the directions there.

Or, after logging in, go to this direct link:  CHANGE AVATAR

I’m too kind, I know.

So, everybody go to your user profiles and change your avatars!

BeepBeepBeepBeep….

Here at Southern Adventist University a few years ago, a girl died in a dorm fire. Because of that tragic incident, fire safety has become an extremely high priority. However, we may just be overdoing it a little. Actually, we me be overdoing it a lot. There is no reason to have three or four fire drills a month. It just makes people angry to wake them up every week at 2:00 a.m. and have them stand outside for 20 minutes. Anyway, here’s a video Robby took so you can enjoy one of the events as much as we did (best watched at 2:00 a.m. and while walking through a WELL-lit hallway).

Ink & Ivory

I now have a music page!!!  I decided on a Creative Commons license.  You can share it, manipulate it (while crediting me for the original, of course), but you can’t use it commercially without my express permission.  Most importantly, you can listen to it at any time!

“Come, Thou Fount” and “O, When Shall I See Jesus” are both awesome hymns–a couple of my favorites.  I was actually going to rearrange the latter for a choir, but I ended up enjoying playing it on the piano too much.  Ah, well.  I can’t perform eight parts by myself anyway.  The third song, “Water’s Dance”, is aptly named, in my opinion (of course, I named it).  Every time I play it, I think of a light rain, and then the storm picks up and subsides.  Maybe I’m just becoming a poet.  In any case, It is the first song of mine that is actually complete AND worth publishing.  I should work on all my other stuff so it IS worth publishing.

I’m calling the album “Ink & Ivory” (in case you don’t get it, ink as in writing music, ivory as in piano keys).  I thought it sounded cool.  I’ll put the album art up soon.  It’s almost done.  I’ll be adding more songs to the album in the future.

Look forward to more in the future!  I plan to keep making music.  In fact, I’m planning to have my own music recording studio someday.  That’s what I’m going to college for; media production and business are my two majors.  Not just for my own music, of course, but because I love music.

Elections 2008–Who?

I never realized there were so many candidates until I went to Wikipedia to look up who Ralph Nader’s running mate was.  I found out Nader is Independent, not Green Party, and I found many other names.  I included many of them in my poll.  I wouldn’t want to leave anybody out, so I also left an “other” option.

Donations are Welcome!

I now have a way for people to give me money!!!  I love that idea.  Anyway, it’s for my I Cantori (choir) trip at the end of the year.  I don’t have all the details yet.  They should be announced next week.  But for now, I set the donation goal at $2000.  I can change it as soon as I hear the outcome of all the deliberations.

You can probably already see the widget on the right sidebar with the little graph showing current donations.  You can follow the link there or click on “Donate” on the top of the page to find out more and actually donate.

Thank you in advance for the gifts!  You will be helping a poor college student have the coolest trip ever.

Ow

Yeah, I’m in pain.  Ow.  Yesterday evening I was playing volleyball (as usual).  I was standing there waiting for the other team to serve.  Then I pulled two muscles in my back.  I don’t know how.  I always spend at least five minutes before every game stretching, so it couldn’t be that.  I also was not strenuously leaping or bending when it happened.  Now I can barely move.  I’ve missed today’s classes (ever tried walking without moving your back?).  At least I don’t have work today.
:(
