New Things Are Coming!!!

I’ve been working on the new theme lately.  I’ve also changed the front page.  Hope you like it :)

The old front page is here:  http://room2593.com/old_home2/
in case you liked it better and want to keep that page bookmarked.

If you want to keep up with how the new theme will look, go here:  http://room2593.com/test/

CNN

In case you haven’t heard (or have simply become deaf to my narcissistic comments), I was on CNN!  I wasn’t credited, but there was a segment of viral videos, and the latest Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir piece made it on.  It includes the piece of the video that features me.

Actually, except for the viral videos segment, I hate CNN.  It is my least favorite news channel.

Anyway, here’s the link (at about 3 minutes is when the choir clip begins):  http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2010/04/03/nr.levs.viral.video.04.03.cnn?hpt=T2

Better in Every Way Possible

I upgraded to better hosting.  Now we have unlimited bandwidth/storage/etc.  We are free!!!!  Also, no more shutting down of the site randomly (well, it’s not random when it gets shut down for lack of posting on our hosting site, but we don’t need to worry about it anymore).  So, Robby can quit complaining about that.  Now he has more time to complain about other, more important things.

Hooray!!!

…for your edification…

I love the word “edification”.  Also, I am teaching a class right now.  Just thought you should know.  I can multitask turn in your assignments through email blog at the same time keep your eyes on your own paper….

Actually, the students are doing things.  I’m waiting for them to complete.  How weird is it that one of my students is my girlfriend?  There’s a rule against that, isn’t there?

Sorry for the downtime…

We hate posting to a forum to keep our hosting.  We will be switching to paid hosting sometime in the future.  In the meantime, we’re up again!  Enjoy.

An Excuse for Everyone (even though you probably don't care)

I shall now offer an excuse for not writing anything on here for a while:

Sooooo….. I’m not particularly thrilled with the color choices (even though they’re my color choices and it totally works) because I simply don’t like pink or purple or yellow. But I’m told that they are good colors (and inside I know they are, but I’m color-ist).

I may or may not change the colors for Robby’s and Stephen’s to match the coloring in their photos (purple being dominant in Robby’s, yellow in Stephen’s).

Now imagine the sidebar (above the picture of me on the far right) containing sidebar-y things. And imagine the single comment is the five indicated in the callout bubble. Also, imagine cool rollovers for stuff. You now have the finished product. I will have the non-imaginary one for you in [insert indeterminate but likely long] amount of time.

How do you feel about it?

Oh, and by the way, if you didn’t figure it out already, it’s the picture of the new website theme for our blogs.

The Alistair Watkins Show–an Update

Okay.  So we have a new room setup.  We will likely still film the majority of the show in the room.  However, there will be some major with all-super-caps changes.  Firstly, it will be mostly scripted.  We cannot guarantee that our propensity to ad lib will not affect the show, but we can guarantee that there will be fewer “dead spots” in the program.  Also, we may add other sections with other people, and we will most likely need to come up with a name for Stephen Barry.  I still like Stephen Nehpets (a palindrome, because I love palindromes).  And we’ll work on an alter ego for him.  Also, I will try to write a new intro.  If we can’t all agree on a new intro song, we’ll take what I’ve come up with and let you, the people, vote.  And then we’ll look at the results, throw them out, and pick one we like.

With our schedules even more busy than ever, we may end up making the show once every two weeks.  We’ll try our best to push one out a week, but no promises.  We now have two cameras with which to work (thus angles and more video editing) and script writing to do.

Two weeks.  Our season premiere will happen within two weeks.  I hope.  It should be one you can sink your teeth into.  …into which you can sink your teeth.  Prepositions.  Fragments.  Hints.

The School Year is About to Begin

Wooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo!  I will finally have other (especially non-freshmen and non-cohabitant [no offense to the freshmen and my apartment/roommates (well, maybe offense to the freshmen [no offense to the freshmen I didn't mean to offend, though])]) people with whom to hang out!  And I shall soon reoccupy room 2593 in that dormitory called Talge Hall.  As will Robby.  And Stephen.  Yes, Stephen.  As soon as they email the dean (get on that, guys, will ya?!).  We are three-man-roominizing 2593.  It used to be a three-man room, so it won’t be too difficult to change it back.  We will also be changing the picture on the front of our website.  Although I really like the current one, we need to include SBTETO2.0 in the main picture.

Just for your edification, ye that be unedified, Stephen and I roomed together in 2592 (not 2593, but across the hall) the second semester of our freshman year (2008).  He took off a year (2008-2009), and is coming back for 2009-2010.  Robby and I roomed together last year (2008-2009) in 2593.  I picked 2593 because it’s massive compared to the other rooms, it’s at the end of the hallway, has two windows, and no neighbors.  It’s awesome!

Anyway, now you guys know that room 2593 will be even more awesome to visit this year.

New Mucis

My brother used to call it mucis (pronounced MOO-kis). That’s the explanation.

Now, for the content:

I have uploaded two new songs for your enjoyment.  They’re on my music page, and I’ll also put them here.  That makes eight songs for the album “Techno is for Angry Keyboards.  How many should I do?  Also, keep in mind that not all the songs uploaded are finished.  In fact, I don’t think I’ve really finished any of them.  So if you have any criticisms, I can incorporate your ideas before the final release.

SBTETO2.0… or is it 3.0?

Stephen Barry Tell ‘Em the Original 2.0 is coming back to Southern!!!11!!!!1!!11!!1!!!1111!1!!1!!!!!

If that’s not enough exclamation for you, copy and past the first sentence into a text editor, then add your own.  The 1/! key is near the top-left of your keyboard.

It’s official.  Now, all we have to do is come up with a good AWShow name for him.  When I see the acronym “SBTETO”, I think “S B Tito” or something.  Maybe “Tito Billings”.  How’s that?  I’m horrible at this.  I came up with Alistair Watkins, and that was it.  I’ve used up my creativity.

How about a palendrome (a word/phrase that’s spelled the same forward and back)?  We’ve got do something original for THE Original.  Stephen Nehpets!  Yrrab bar Ry, for a Middle Eastern twist.

Help me out, guys.  Well, actually, I should probably let Stephen have his own say first… but I’ve already written the post.  His answer trumps all, though, so go ahead and make up a name!
