The Alistair Watkins Show (to be continued shortly)

Well, we have two AWS videos yet to edit and upload because we had no time at the end of the school year.  Then Robby went to camp (not exactly vid-edit territory) and I have a pathetic computer (which is about to change, as you can read in my last post).  So, I hope to get them up before school starts, at least.  Now to other business.

Stephen (SBTETO2.0, or SBTETO1.0 as Robby would say, because he hasn’t caught up with the version numbers yet) will very likely be back at good ‘ole SAU again in the fall!  He will also attempt to get room 2592 (where we previously shared a room) accross the hall, or 2594, which is a corner room across the hall (like ours, without the extra space).  Soooooooo, he’ll probably be in our AWS videos.  Also, we will start inviting guests (not just Bret Thompson, Bret Thompson, Bret Thompson and the like).  If you would like to be a guest, please tell us!  We would love to have you on our show!

Also, I’m thinking it would be cool to change up our format a bit.  Adding new people will certainly change things a bit.  Maybe we could pre-write skits (written sketches?  really?  after all this ad-lib nonsense?) and have everybody change roles every time (or everybody but Alistair).  Maybe we could have discussion panel meetings about different topics, where Alistair is the moderator/host.  Well, enough of my ideas, let’s hear yours.  What do you want us to do?  (Brooke, don’t you dare….)

Can’t wait for season 2!  And season 1 will come out on DVD (with a nominal disc/shipping fee perhaps) when I get the time to do that as well.  Well, more about that later, when it’s relevant.

Newcomp

New computers are awesome.  I get “new” computers all the time.  Most are not working when I get them for free.  I then fix them and give them to family and friends.    However, I’m getting a fairly decent computer this time.  Here are some specs for you fellow nerds:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2 Ghz (I plan to overclock this to about 2.8 Ghz)
4 GB 800 Mhz OCZ RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB
1.75 TB of WD hard drives (I found two VERY inexpensive drives, and I need the space for media and backups and the multiple operating systems I plan on installing)
Wireless N, gigabit LAN
HD Realtek sound (so my surround system will still make our dorm room the place to have an occasional movie night)
and all kinds of other awesomeness.

ALL-inclusive, about $600.  Pair it with my 22″ widescreen LCD monitor and 5.1 surround sound system, and I’ll actually start pumping out some media!  I can’t wait!

What this means for the non-nerds that managed to skip through the gobbly-gook and arrive at this sentence:  better movie/game nights if you come and visit the physical room 2593, more TV shows on “The Southern Network”, more of my music and pictures being posted here, and MANY more videos for your viewing delight.  Which leads me to my next post….

The Unhappy Blogosphere

WordPress MU 2.7 hates me.  It punished us with a down website when I tried to upgrade from version 2.6.  I followed the directions as exactly as I could (the directions are horrible!) and it ended up deleting all of SBTETO2.0′s comments, everyone’s pictures, and made my blog an error page.  So, after trying to fix it for a while, I gave up and rolled it back (I remembered to make several backups).  So, it works again.  The upgrade would bring a couple of nice features to us, but not to everyday readers, really.  And we won’t be forced to upgrade for a while.  Until then, I’ll look into it, but I’ll give everybody ample warning just in case when I do.

Props to SBTETO2.0

Okay, for those of you that have not noticed Robby and I are not the only bloggers here, StephenBarryTellEmTheOriginal2.0 has some stuff to say.  In what I believe is a response to Robby’s rather seriously religiously deep post, StephenBarryTellEmTheOriginal2.0 has delivered.  If you don’t read it, you’re missing out on an important post.  Just click on those fancy things called links.  Do it.  You need to.

One Last Thing

Well, tomorrow afternoon I leave for Brazil.  I won’t be back for a couple of weeks, so my blog won’t get updated.  Probably.  Well, I may find a computer down in Brazil and try to make a post or two while I’m there.  I don’t really know.  I shall take pictures!  With a not-so-fantastic (but also not so expensive or easily-stolen) camera.  Also, I shall test the limits of my camera’s video capabilities.  And generally having an awesome time.  And making sentence fragments.

So, if you have some money that you no longer want, go to the donate page and help me with the last $400.  I think that’s what I need… I should check….  I’m pretty sure that’s it.  The chart is accurate, but doesn’t take into account money in the mail that I’m sure is coming.  :)

Well, until next time, …I can’t think of something for you to do ’til next time… oh, yeah, give me money!  I mean, uhm, err, donate to this worthy cause!  It is worthy.  It is a choir/mission trip.  And I can make your gifts tax deductible.  To find out how, just leave a comment on “The Wall” about it.  I can email you the form.

Anyway, bye.

Good night.

Bonne nuit.

No, you hang up!

Okay, we’ll do it at the same time.

1, 2, 3, ….

Did you hang up?

No, 1, 2, 3, THEN hang up.  Okay.

1, 2, 3, ….

Did you hang up?

Summer

Summer break is here!  Ha ha!  Break!  That was a good one!

Well, Robby’s home now, and I likely won’t see him ’til next semester.  [sarcasm]I’m crying.[/sarcasm]

I’ve moved off campus (only a bike ride away) to share an apartment with a couple of guys.  It should be a very boring summer, as I’ll be working at a computer lab and the radio station on the dead campus.  I decided it was easier to hold down two good jobs at SAU than to try and find work back home in Missouri.  The only fun available is the fun I’ll make.  So it should be a blast, right?!  Wrong.  Self-made fun is quite short of spontaneous other-people-made fun.

Oh, yeah… the Alistair Watkins show….  We never actually did a grand finale.  Sorry.  We didn’t have time.  Also, we have an episode waiting to be taken off the camera still.  It’s not our best work, so you aren’t missing much.  However, I will try to release it this summer, although Robby was usually the video editor.  It shouldn’t be too difficult.  Be patient, though.

I’ve been working on a new website, archpenguin.com.  It will be kind of a tech blog/forum thing.  I’m still the only member, but I just got it up, and I’m still working on the layout.  Go ahead and visit there if you want to, though, as it is in working order.  I will check daily to see if there are new posts.  I’ll soon be putting up tutorials, tech news, etc.

Oh, yes… when I get unpacked more, I’ll take some pics/video of the place.  It has a kitchen!!!  And 1.499 bathrooms!  That’s one kitchen and 1.499 bathrooms more than room 2593!  And it costs significantly less to live here!  Don’t worry, though.  Robby and I will be back in room 2593 next semester.  Paying more.  Eating at the cafe.  Making Alistair Watkins videos.  I guess that’s one nice thing about 2593.  Good ol’ 2593.

The Original, the Man from Aiken, STEPHENBARRYTELLEM!!!

Welcome home Stephen Barry!  I know you’re coming tomorrow, but I decided to welcome you now, anyway.  I have work tomorrow from 4:45 to 10:00 p.m., so you’re gonna have to go to Summerhour to see me when you get here.  Robby and I are planning to sleep in a bit (til 9 a.m., anyway), so we can stay up and talk.  Oh yeah, do you want the couch or the floor?  Well, I guess we’ll see you tomorrow!

My Apologies

Yeah, we kinda had issues with the webhost yesterday.  You might have noticed that the site was down and that there was a scary message in place of it.  Don’t worry.  We just needed to fix something with the hosting company.  We didn’t do anything horrible, we just neglected to switch over some settings when the webhost made improvements.  It’s all sorted out now, so we’re good to go.

I have, however, started making backups of everything.  I figure it’s a good idea, just in case….
